Books by Calvin Jones
From books to help businesses get to grips with digital marketing to wildlife-watching how-to’s and nature writing, to fantasy fiction… my writing is as varied and eclectic as my interests. Check out a few of my books below.
Understanding Digital Marketing
I co-authored the first two editions of Understanding Digital Marketing with Damian Ryan — a then Dublin (since London) based media entrepreneur and marketing specialist. We secured a publishing deal with London based business publisher Kogan Page, and the first edition of Understanding Digital Marketing hit the shelves in 2009. It was followed by the second edition in 2012.
The book became a bestseller in its category, and was translated into a host of languages too numerous to list here. It was required reading on many a marketing course.
I moved on after the second edition to pursue other projects, but UDM remains a piece of work I’m incredibly proud of.
Empire: The Bantara Chronicles (Book 1)
Empire is my first foray into the world of fiction, and is the first book I ever wrote (originally on a Psion Series 3 organiser way back in 1998/99 while travelling around the world — but that’s another story). The manuscript sat idling on my hard-drive for the bones of a decade, forgotten as work, children and the myriad distractions of modern life diverted my attention.
After a few stalled attempts at finding an agent to represent the book, I finally dusted off the manuscript in 2014, and published it first as an eBook and then as a paperback through Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing.
I am currently working on the second book in the series.
Ireland’s Wildlife Publications
I set up Ireland’s Wildlife in 2009 as an outlet to share my lifelong passion for wildlife through my writing, but also as a catalyst to keep me at the coalface of content marketing and SEO. Working on my own content-focused site provides invaluable insight and experience that I then pass on to my content marketing clients.
Ireland’s Wildlife books currently consist of short How-to volumes (titles include Birdwatching for Beginners and Choosing Binoculars for Birding and Wildlife Observation), and collections of my nature writing. The first two volumes of The Irish Wildlife Collection are available now — with subsequent volumes on the way.
